ProEx was excited to participate in a kids triathlon camp, which was held from August 13-17 at Eisenhower Park in West Hartford, CT. The camp, in it's third year, was organized by Team Training New England, a local business that is passionate about training adults and children on how to do triathlons. There were 60 children who participated this year, ranging from ages 6 to 13.On Monday, August 13th, Eric Kopp, Director of Clinical Education, and Chris Stackpole, a physical therapist in the Farmington location, gave a talk to the kids on the importance of proper stretching as part of their camp training. In addition, the kids learned about fitness, nutrition, and skills needed for biking, swimming and running. On Saturday, August 18th, the campers were able to showcase their newfound skills in a triathlon race geared toward children. Before the start of the race, Eric and Chris were back to give a dynamic stretching warmup to all participants as they embarked on their swim, bike, and run."We had a great time talking to the kids," said Kopp. "Triathlons are demanding and require proper stretching and warmup techniques before and after. If an athlete prepares their body properly before their work out then they will reduce their chance of injury and have more fun participating in the sport."
