Melanie Strassberg, DPT, a ProEx affiliated Physical Therapist comments in an article by Runners World, "6 Common Injuries You Should Never Try to Train Through".

Within the article Melanie, DPT discusses patellofemoral pain syndrome, stating that pain at the front of the knee is a common symptom, and often accompanies activities such as going down stairs, squatting, and after rigorous exercise. Melanie states that this injury occurs because of muscle and strength imbalances in the quads and hips. She also notes that this injury is most common in women and young adults.
